Lake Superior

by Samantha Nelson

Lake Superior
calming place
where waves are
gentle and waves are
tough.

Seagulls dive
swim through the waves,
while sun glistens on
the wave tops

Lake Superior
waves so calming.
Lake Superior
where I want to be

She Is

by Sydney Nelson

Lake Superior is my ...
Knowledge,
Dream,
Hope,
Gem,
Happiness,
Spirit,
Love,
But most of all she is my home!

Home

by Sydney Nelson

From Lake Superior’s bustling harbor,
To her ship’s starboard,
To her rocky shores,
To her ship’s iron ore,
To her lighthouses beaming,
To her waters a gleaming,
To her unknown treasures,
To her wonderful pleasures,
It is here that I roam,
And that I call home.

Untitled

by Kate Segar

Waves collide. Fog
flies across the cold dark water.
A lake that never rests.
The water jumps curves
and twists, moving and
grooving to its own
beat that never has
been and never will be
complete.

Northern Lights

by Rachel Sipress

Colors fly across the sky
I wonder how and why
Are they spirits having fun
Are they stars on the run
Are they splotches of paint
Made on canvas of our quaint
Universe
Is it made when gods are terse
What is the northern lights?

Water

by Rachel Sipress

Water glitters
While seagull flitters
Around
Under the surface there is a mound
Treasures
Gold, pearls, and other pleasures
Pleasures from another century
A key to history
Maps & books
From their looks
I know they are priceless
A beautiful mess of jewels

Lake Superior

by Rachel Sipress

A lake of glass
A beautiful mass
  Of blue
A clue
Of what our world was like
Before we rode cars & a motorbike
What a beautiful lake
Not any of our contraptions could make
Something this beautiful

Untitled

by Shamila Smith

As I look across
the way, I see
myself above the lake.
Am I drowning or is
it just me? I see
the fish as they wave.
Hi. I look crazy and
say, I will survive. I
want to go deeper
so I say. I look under
water. Is there a party?
I hear them say yes
so I start to dance,
but I hear a voice.
I woke up and it
was just a dream.
I wonder if I can go
back. They say is
that a fact or I just
need to go back.
