Lake Superior

by Anna Ambrosi

I love you Lake Superior,
I love your dancing waters!
I love Erie, Ontario, Michigan and Huron,
Your lovely sons and daughters!
I love your dancing waters!
That sparkle in the sun,
And when I step upon your beach,
I love to run and run!
In the hottest days of summer
When the sun beats down on the land,
I love to swim in your waters,
Which I think are really quite grand.
I love to live in a place,
Where only a few miles away,
There's a beautiful lake,
On who's beach I can make,
Wonderful sandcastles!
Lake Superior, you are the best,
You're just one big treasure chest.

Lake Superior

by Sharon Billman

Lake Superior
Sparkling bright,

Freezing and cold,
But such a delight.

Lake Superior
Your water so blue
Biggest lake in America,

That's a fact, and
it's true.
Lake Superior,
Your waves go so high,
Lake Superior,
I must say good-bye.

Lake Superior
I'll come back someday,
A day that's in August,
July, June, or May.

Lake Superior

by Timothy Billman

Lake Superior, so blue, so bold
Ancient waters, many, many years old
Waves crashing, splashing and free
Much more fun than any shopping spree
I can’t believe it
It’s lots of fun
To go swimming in the sun.

Lake Superior

by Tony Hansen

Light,
It reflects the mood.
Waves,
The mood as real life.
Wind,
Disturbs the calm.
People,
Enjoy the calm.
Cool,
Water’s refreshment.
Grace,
Lake Superior’s Peace.
Is calm.

Sleeping Lake

by Tony Hansen

Up a rock,
In a lake,
I lay asleep,
No worries,
No cares.

Upon this rock I lay,
Asleep to all but the wind,
The sun is my blanket,
The waves, my lullaby,
While I sleep upon this rock.

Asleep on a rock,
I dream of days past,
Of smiles shared,
Of having no cares,
Of laughing, of fun.

Time for me to go,
And to leave this rock of mine,
The sun’s blanket, the waves lullaby,
Say good-bye to me,
As slowly I leave,
My memories stayed.

Life of Water

by Tony Hansen

Life of Water
Graces Better.

Life of Calmness,
Never restless.

Life of Clarity,
Lasting Purity.

Life of refreshment,
No resentment.

Life of Water,
Leaves us later.

Night in Duluth

by Madeline Johnson

You see the moonlight
you see the sand
It's a beautiful night
here in the Northland
The bird sings so sweetly
the horn blows so low
together so neatly
they put on a show
The cold wind is blowingl
upon my happy face
I stand in the moonlight
in awe of the grace
of this beautiful sight
of this gorgeous moonlight
I can't breathe as I write
on this magical night
in this place I belong,
my home on the lake.

Blue Prison

by Sean Kennetz

I look out upon the briny blue
and see an evil
a blue evil
one that has no mercy
for a crew

Lake Superior

by Sean Kennetz

So vast and empty
an abyss of blue
her secrets she would reveal
if you only knew

Sights, Sounds, and Wrecks

by Sean Kennetz

A moonlit shore
Shines across the horizon
and glistens across the lake.

horns sounding as
boats pass by
I then wave
goodbye

for I know that
the still lake
seems harmless
yet, when unaware
it strikes with fear

all victims fall
into the depth
of the unwavering
sea
finding their way
to dream
