WRITING GROUPS
Open Genre-based Writing Groups
About LSW open writing groups: Several LSW writing groups are open to all members. Expect a different number of people at each session and lively contributions from a variety of viewpoints. The procedures are set by each group. Call or e-mail the contact people before you come, or just show up!
** ** Monday, Jan 12 at 6:30 pm the Children's Writers Group will meet. This month we will meet at Sara's Table Chester Creek Cafe. The writing prompt for this meeting is "new." Email questions to Julesmj2@aol.com. The Children's Writers Group meets the second Monday of each month.
** Third Wednesday of each month, 6 - 8 pm, Fiction/Poetry Writing Group, at Chester Creek Café, 1902 E. 8th Street. Contact Jill Hinners (349-6431) or Cheryl Reitan (creitan@d.umn.edu, 218-728-3154). Our writing group will meet on these dates for 2008-09: Nov 19, Dec 17, Jan 21, Feb 18, Mar 18, Apr 15, May 13, June 17.
** Third Thursday, 11:30 am, Writers’ Square Group meets at Chester Creek Café.
** Third Sunday of every month, 1:30 pm, Memoir Writing Group meets at Chester Creek Café.
Particular Information for Upcoming LSW Writers Groups
** Friday, Dec 5 – (no November meeting!) Freshwater Screenwriting Group - 6:00pm at The Playground (Tech Village) A representative from the McKnight Foundation will be there to answer questions about the application process. A Cinema Lounge viewing will follow and then it's on to Pizza Luce!
** Mon, Dec 8 at 6:30 pm The Children's Writers Group will meet at Amazing Grace Bakery in Canal Park. The writing prompt for this month -- a favorite childhood Christmas memory.
** Wednesday, Dec 17 (third Wednesday), Fiction/Poetry Writing Group, 6 -8 pm at Chester Creek Cafe, 1902 E. 8th Street. Contact Jill Hinners (349-6431) or Cheryl Reitan (creitan@d.umn.edu, 218-728-3154).
** Thursday, Dec 18 11:30 am The Writers’ Square downstairs at Chester Creek Cafe
