[Editor’s note: All submissions of upcoming
events—one-time events and regularly scheduled
events—must include in this order day, date, time, name of
event, specific location, name of organization or merchant,
contact person, and contact information if available. Events
are arranged by date rather than lumped together by store,
agency, or person. Normal Ariel 10-point is the font used in
the newsletter. No html formatting is used. Proofreading is
greatly appreciated. Remember that this is a calendar and
not a newsletter, so brevity is important. Thank you.]

LSW member Phil Fitzpatrick is the e-calendar editor. Send your info to him at calendar@lakesuperiorwriters.org.

Whoa, where has the time gone? Sorry for the late arrival.
Trying to seize the day out there in the garden, and there
haven’t been that many to seize of late. Nonetheless, here
is your somewhat belated but no less informative LSW June
E-Calendar:

** Monday, June 8, starting at 6 pm - Best-selling memoirist
and humorist, David Sedaris will read & sign at Northern
Lights Books & Gifts, 307 Canal Park Drive. “How in the
world did you get David Sedaris to come to your store?”
We’ve been asked that many times in the past month. The
simple answer is we received a phone call from his publisher
asking us if we would like to host David on his book tour
for the paperback release of When you Are Engulfed in
Flames. David wanted to come to Duluth and to an independent
bookstore. We plan to block off our parking lot to have a
concert with local musicians like Rachael Kilgour. David
will read at 6:00 for 20-30 minutes. We will have speakers
set up both inside and outside so everyone can hear him. We
have learned that David comes early and stays until everyone
has their books signed. Sometimes his events go to midnight
or later. So bring your favorite lawn chair, come and relax
with your friends, listen to some great local music, eat
some ice cream, drink some coffee and make a party of it.
Line numbers will be issued starting June 1 at 9am with a
purchase or proof of purchase (receipt) of a David Sedaris

Pavlik from June 11 to August 1, Opening on June 11 from 5 -
8 pm Betsy Bowen will speak at the opening about the African
prints by Fred Mutebi and Hassan Mukiibi. Anna Marie
Pavlik's prints of her travels in America's wilderness are

that she discovered and which the proceeds from these prints
help support. Anna Marie, in her usual engaging manner,
tells a story in pictures of the wilderness of America that
she has been exploring. The wild journey through these two
very different cultures creates a vibrant and exciting
visual adventure. Free and open to the public at Northern
