“EROTIC JUSTICE, A DIALOGUE ON CONTEMPORARY SEXUALITY”
Feb 8 to March 31; Opening & Reading, Feb 28, 5-8 pm,
318 N. 14th Ave. E., Duluth. Six Northern Printmakers Alliance
printmakers and six Lake Superior Writers have come together
to dialogue on various issues of contemporary sexuality. A
chapbook of the literary works will be available at the gallery
(publisher: Calyx Press Duluth). The opening and reading on
Feb 28 is free and open to the public.

NEW PLAY-READING GROUP
Feb 22, Thur 5 pm -Are you a closet thespian? A budding playwright?
Lake Superior Writers is happy to announce a play-reading
group that will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month
in the Annex at Sara’s Table. We’ll start with
plays from “Humana Festival 2004: The Complete Plays,”
edited by Tanya Palmer, Hanover, NH, Smith & Kraus, 2005.
At the Feb meeting, we’ll read the first two plays:
“Kuwait,” and “A Bone Close to My Brain.”

MINNESOTA BOOK AWARD FINALISTS were
recently announced. “Promses Vague yet Certain”
by DON DASS is a finalist in the Fine Press category.
This project was a collaboration with artist CELIA LIEDER
of Calyx Pess and printer Jon Hinkle of Tight Sqeek Press,
and it was partially funded by an ARAC grant. “Response,
Poetry and Prints from the Lake Superior Writers and the Northern
Printmakers Alliance,” published by Calyx Press, CELIA
LIEDER, editor, was af inalist in the poetry category.
TERRY FALSANI has had two poems selected
for publication in Dust & Fire Review, 2007.
DIANNA HUNTER and KATHY McTAVISH will
collaborate in "Love Below Zero," an after-work
experience of improvisational cello music, short story reading,
and book browsing. 5 p.m. Wed., Feb. 7, Sunhillow Books, 10
E. 4th St., Duluth.
LISE LUNGE LARSEN will be spending
Feb 6-8 in the Moorehead area schools as well as speak at
Concordia College on Feb 10 as part of “I Love to Read
Month.” She will do a reading at the Hinckley Public
Library and on Feb. 23 she’ll sign her books in Cable,
Wisconsin in connection with the American Birkebeiner.
LIZ MINETTE has had two poems accepted
for publication in Dust & Fire Review, 2007.

FRANCINE STERLE’s collection
of poetry, “Nude in Winter,” was recently published
by Tupelo Press. The book is composed entirely of ekphrastic
poems, i.e., poems based on visual art, and is available at
all the usual outlets as well as from the press at < www.tupelopress.org>.
Francine will read on Friday, March 2 at Max Lager's in Atlanta
during the Associated Writing Program's annual conference.

Series will sponsor the 11th annual ST. DAVID’S DAY
OPEN READING in Somers Lounge at the College of St. Scholastica.
The event will include brief readings by noted local poets
such as Ellie Schoenfeld and Duluth Poet Laureate Barton Sutter,
but anyone, published or not, is welcome to participate. The
first half of the evening is devoted to original work, the
second half to favorite poems by other authors. Readers must
limit themselves to three minutes in order to give equal time
to everyone. The reading honors the 887th anniversary of the
canonization of St. David, the patron saint of Wales. The
event is designed to showcase the variety of voices in the
Northland and kiss the worst of winter goodbye. Readers are
urged to sign up before the event. Admission is free. Refreshments
will be served.

ABOUT THE LSW BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND
THE LSW MEMBERSHIP Member Involvement: We value our membership
and encourage your involvement in LSW. An annual meeting for
LSW members is held in the spring. All members are invited
to participate. Financial reports and a summary of the year's
activities are presented to the membership at the annual meeting
for review. The LSW board meets monthly throughout the year.
Members are invited to attend board meetings, review minutes,
and look over financial statements.
Board of Directors: LSW is governed by
an 11-member board. Potential board members are interviewed
by a nomination committee and presented to the board for vote.
In the past, many board members have been chosen from the group
of members who serve on our committees and who volunteer.
